Production Begins for Ty Richards’ Third Studio Album

Production has begun for studio album number three. We’ll have to wait to see if this album turns out with more of the same analog tape vibes, or digital orchestration, or some combination of the two. The limitations of recording and mixing on tape to a measly 8 channels proved to foster huge creative dividends for me on my last record “Welcome to Flat Earth”. It’s been one of my favorite creative tools, but I’m not married to the format, so we’ll have to see how this next record takes shape.

Ty Richards Banned in Austin, TX

After Ty’s second studio album release, “Welcome to Flat Earth”, and after 3+ months of heavy rotation of his single “Western Chauvinist”, Richards was suddenly banned from Austin’s KUTX radio. They lied and attempted to coerce him to publicly explain and apologize for the song in exchange for restoring his airtime. In typical punk-rock form, Richards gave them the proverbial middle finger and blasted the art censorship publicly. In addition to the radio-banning, the browbeating continued and he was promptly blacklisted from all Austin clubs, and dropped by his publicist and all Austin music industry contacts. This marks the one year anniversary since this song was premiered by the screeching zombie Stalinists at KUTX 98.9 / KUT Austin. Just months before they banned me from the station and blacklisted me across all Austin clubs. So to celebrate this joyous occasion, here’s a surprise music video.
